The Panel considered that sentinel node biopsy is the standard of care for patients with a clinically negative axilla and that axillary node dissection could be avoided in all patients with a negative sentinel node and in selected patients with micrometastatic disease or isolated tumour cells in the sentinel node.

センチネルリンパ節生検に関しては、臨床的に腋窩リンパ節転移陰性の患者に対して標準治療であり、センチネルリンパ節転移陰性の全患者とセンチネルリンパ節への微小転移あるいは遊離腫瘍細胞を認めた患者のうち限られた症例では、腋窩リンパ節郭清を省略できる可能性があるとされた。
